Coronavirus that allegedly originated in Wuhan wildlife wet markets has highlighted the appalling treatment of wild animals across China and the rest of the world. Since the zoonotically engendered coronavirus emerged at the end of 2019, the relationship of humanity to wildlife has come under the spotlight. The point we are at in history is critical because it’s one of those rare moments in time where we can and should be redefining our world. As people who are committed to the preservation of wildlife — rhinos in this case — we find ourselves shocked that so little attention is being brought to bear on the animals at the suffering heart of this.
