Baby Rhino Rescue is proud to support the Women’s Empowerment Project at Solio Game Reserve. We are funding the salaries of four women who work at the center; by empowering the women in the communites, you empower the communities. In addition to making sanitary pads for the women and girls in the surrounding communities, they knit soft toy rhinos, make beautiful beaded bracelets, and create cards with paper made out of rhino dung.
Reusable sanitary pad kits provide a simple, sustainable solution to the challenge faced by young girls in the community. By both making and then donating these kits, this project ensure that girls stay in school! Each kit is carefully handmade, durable, and environmentally friendly, offering long-term relief and empowerment. This project also opens essential conversations around women’s health, education and leadership. BRR pays salaries for four full time women who make the kits. BRR has also provided the overlocker machine, the key element needed. BRR is also funding some of the essential parts of the materials needed for the kits: special derricks, threads, mackintoshes, as well as scissors, buttons, chairs and material boxes!
