Wildlife trafficking isn’t only tigers and elephants – it involves tens of thousands of species and millions of wild plants and animals. In fact, The State Department estimates that it is the third largest type of illegal trade, after drugs and weapons. Consequences for our environment are severe (extinction, introduction of invasive species, spread of disease, etc.) but consequences for those involved in illegal trade are weak.
