The Solio Women’s Empowerment Project was created to support the women in communities surrounding Solio Ranch and Solio Game Reserve. The idea is to help women learn new skills, make a livelihood and build confidence. A lot of this happens when girls are enabled to finish their high school education. Some young women leave school when they first start menstruating because they do not have the proper feminine hygiene products, and some do not return to school. This keeps them uneducated and disenfranchised. It takes very little to keep them at school: sanitary kits with re-usable pads, a waterproof liner, and soap. In this way they are fully educated and become powerful members of their communities. BRR is partnered with Solio in this incredible mission: keep the young girls at school.
